This is NOT a photo of a happy camper! Poor Tiegan is not breezing through the chicken pox like her sister did, with only a few spots on her face and unitchy ones on her torso. No, Tiegan is going insane with the itchiness, scratching her scalp and back and bum all day long - and her parents are going insane with the lack of sleep :( Today I went to get chickweed cream, as Tiegan won't let us near her with calomine lotion (which was Kea's saviour), and she's also not so fond of oatmeal baths. What's a mom to do in the middle of the night?! Hopefully chickweed cream does the trick!!!! Cross your fingers for more than 2 hours of sleep tonight!

And feeling like this is a year of aging! He's finding numerous grey hairs on his face and head, and feeling very out of shape - you know, just basically feeling old!

We celebrated with a carrot cake covered in cream cheese icing, and Tiegan was SOOOOOOOOOOO excited to help him blow out his candles that she doesn't even show up in his photos except as a blur! Though that also kind of describes 2 1/2 Tiegan these days, so there you go!!!!!

And we're continuing our celebrations of spring around here - it was a beautiful sunny day so we decided to make window hangings out of shredded crayons melted between wax paper, and plant some more seeds. We also enjoyed a fun lunch of bunny pancakes before going out for a long walk to see the ducks. I love the feeling of spring - the promise of more sunny days, less clothing, more fruit and fresh veggies from our garden! We'll be going camping next weekend (known by most as Easter weekend, but in our family it's known as Jamie's birthday weekend!) so I think I'll bring a few treats and eggs to hide in the forest by our campsite.....as long as the weather cooperates!

And what do you do when you hear your friend is sick with the chicken pox?! Of course, you all race over for a chicken pox party! Who knew it could be so hard to get chicken pox - we just happened to stumble upon it and were completely taken by surprise to find the bumps on Kea, but L & D have been exposed to sick kids three times with no luck. Hopefully this time, with shared popsicles and many cuddles, they'll come down with it!

So, yes, Kea has broken out in chicken pox and so we've been 'enjoying' a quiet week at home. Kea has been watching numerous episodes of "Little House on the Prairies" which seems to take her mind off the spots, and we've been reading a lot of books. The first day of her spots she was rather lethargic, and the first night was pretty restless, with midnight oatmeal baths and such, but after that it was pretty smooth sailing. Now we're just waiting for Tiegan to come down with it - and evidently the second child tends to get it much worse. Oh joys.
