We're still alive!

Just not writing much. I've been really tired as I'm not sleeping well at night (both flipping over like a beached whale numerous times a night, and then once I finally get to sleep, getting woken up by Tiegan to make sure both of my arms are wrapped around her) and then our days are spent nesting and getting ready during my more energetic bursts, or vegging in front of DVDs of Six Feet Under in a sleep-deprived stupor. Only a couple more weeks until the due date, that date is creeping up awfully quickly!!!!! Will we be ready? Is one ever ready?!! Aghhhhhh! Hopefully we'll have the house in order and fairly clean over the next couple of days, and then I can relax into more fun projects, like catching up on blog/website/email stuff, sewing a couple of things and just playing boardgames with the girls!!!!!!

Okay, so here's this months' belly photo - getting bigger and bigger, it's just crazy! And although I'm really not ready to have this baby quite yet, I ache all over the place and have given up on the idea of a good night sleep, and just can't wait to not be pregnant anymore!

Anyways, we're full of nesting energy these days, as I cook and bake and freeze, and we're reorganizing all the rooms upstairs, decluttering/hanging things on the walls/setting up the baby area/etc. I will post photos of our bedroom soon, we still haven't officially moved back in as we wanted to air it out a little more. For now, Kea is at a playdate, Tiegan is begging to watch a movie and I'm MORE than ready for an afternoon nap! Cheerio for now!

New Bedroom!

Last night we moved all of our stuff out of the bedroom, and today Jamie has been taking out our crappy, single-paned (evidently held in by 3 screws) vinyl windo and is now putting in our new windows - yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay for more warmth!!!! We have also picked out a paint colour for the room (called tirimasu - should be interesting!) and the goal is to have the room painted by Sun night so we can move all of our stuff back in early next week, and fully set up our room for the baby's arrival. I'm very excited to be getting this all done, but I'm less excited about sleeping on our living room floor!

The girls played very happily all morning, singing and dancing to the soundtrack of "The Sound of Music" and doing puzzles, and now they're watching one of their Harry Potter DVD's for the umpteen millionth time. I've been sorting out photos, picking ones to print off, organizing thank you cards, baking muffins and now I think I may just cuddle up with a quilt, read my book and perhaps close my eyes for a bit. I have such a love/hate relationship with this stage of pregnancy - it forces me to slow down (or else my back goes crazy!), but I'm often so tired I don't really have the energy to do all the things I want to do. Lots of knitting getting done, though, so that's nice!!!

Anyways, I'll post photos of the bedroom once it is done!!!!! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Okay, so you'll notice in the photos from our trip to Ottawa that we paid to have Tiegan's hair cut for the very first time at a hairdressing salon. That was because her big sister got her ears pierced, and she really wanted to as well but settled for the hair cut. And then not THREE DAYS LATER, Kea made her a lovely little hat out of silly putty (thank you Aunt Meg!!!!), which Tiegan promptly put on her head et voila, there I was cutting massive chunks of hair off of her head! I don't think it would have felt quite so painful if we wouldn't have just paid a bunch of money to get it cut, but such is life with a three year old. And actually, it's just the crown that looks almost shaved, so I'll only be an issue once it all starts growing back!

Had a midwife appointment today - we're at 35 weeks, which is just CRAZY! So much to do in the next few weeks! All is well, baby has definitely dropped down making my pelvis feel bruised but at least I don't have to worry about breech! The heartbeat was 130-140, my blood pressure was nice and low and the baby continues to move lots - sometimes going posterior, sometimes anterior......I just wish it would keep its feet out from under my ribs as that's getting VERY uncomfortable!

We're back to snow and ice here, and this morning it took me a good 20 minutes to get the car going - what with all doors frozen shut, then the handles freezing open so I couldn't shut the one door I managed to open, all of us having to crawl over the seats to get in (not a pretty sight when you're 35 weeks preggo!) and then eventually having to boil water to pour over the windshield as I could not get the darn ice off it, it was so thick! We're just not set up for this kind of weather - I mean, it's VANCOUVER for crying out loud! If this keeps up, I may need to get a scraper for the car, and perhaps re-install the idler so I don't have to sit there with my foot on the gas to get it warmed up!!!!! Fun times :-)

Okay, and here are some of the many holiday photos we took during our Christmas out east! Enjoy, and have a good night - we're off to bed at the early hour of 7pm....perhaps this will be the beginning of early bedtimes/early risings and lots of productivity?! One can always dream!!!!!!!

Meg and Ian's new baby - at about 12 weeks inutero

I just had to include this very first photo of our newest niece/nephew! It's amazing how much it already looks like a little baby - they said they could see it swimming around, it's hard to believe that it's only been growing for 12 weeks! We're very excited to meet this newest member of the family - around July 4th!!!!!

Home Sweet Home!

So, we made it home from our whirlwind two week visit out east - it was great to see so many friends and family, but now we're feeling rather exhausted as it was very go go go! We have a bunch of photos we'll be uploading, and I'll post those soon - but for now our lives are about unpacking, sorting stuff, restocking our cupboards with groceries and getting the kids back onto the western time zone!!!!! The flight back home was uneventful, and even enjoyable once both of the kids fell asleep half-way through it! We maxed out our limit of EIGHT pieces of luggage (including two carseats, if that makes it seem any better?!) and have mastered the weight issues - we're allowed 23 kilos, and had bags varying from 22.7-22.9!!!!!!! Now to find space for all that stuff!!!! Happy Sunday to you all!
