Almonte Zombie Walk for Hunger

You may remember a couple of years ago when Kea convinced us all to head out to the Ottawa Zombie walk......well, as soon as she heard that there was going to be an Almonte one this fall, she started looking up youtube videos on how to do the make-up, and there was no doubt that we would be heading out to walk around town (or limp for 2km, if you're Kea!!!!)  It was a gorgeous fall morning, and a great way to raise some money for cats, dogs and the food bank......

Aren't they just so kissable?!!!

Kea discovered that toilet paper and white glue works super well for creating big gashes - who knew?!

It was super fun to see all the people who came out - old and young alike!

And many brought their own brains in case they needed a snack on route:-)

A stop to fondle the James Naismith (inventor of basketball, and previous resident of Almonte.....), of course!

As much as Kea is totally into this sort of stuff, Tiegan most definitely is NOT!  In fact, she was so embarrassed by us, and the whole event, that she spent the hour that we were wandering around town SITTING IN THE CAR.  I'm sure with her head ducked down half the time.  What a funny nut!  In the end, she was convinced to come out when she saw that no one she knew was around, and they were drawing names for the prizes.........we won a fun Almonte toque!!!!

The Cambridge portion of the trip:-)

It was a couple of hours of driving to get to Cambridge, so Ryland decided this would be the perfect time to learn how to knit - Kea took on the challenge, be still my beating heart:-)

The last time we saw Brodie he was still a little baby, so it was so fun to discover this talking, walking, uber-busy toddler!!!!!  He is constantly on the go, and after a couple of hours Jamie and I quickly realized that we are out of practice!!!!!!!!

Some images of our time together - Brodie LOVES to be outside, and the kids were happy to take him out so he could run.  He loves to take rocks from carefully landscaped yards, run into the street, and point out every single airplane he sees!  He has the BEST facial expressions, and LOVES dogs:-)

He also HATES being put into his stroller, but if you actually want to GET anywhere, it has to happen at some point.  Ry distracted him for a bit with some rousing high-fives:-)

We went for a walk to the coffee shop and library, a Sat. morning ritual for Andi and Brodie.  Of course, Jamie loved checking out a bunch of the old buildings on the way!

Like every toddler I know, Brodie is obsessed with cheerios, and loves to strew them around the house!

Cracked me up that Ry spent so much time playing with Brodie's toys.......don't know why we ever bothered to get rid of all his toddler toys???!!!

I didn't take photos of it, but on Sat. we decided to drive to Sarnia to visit with Jamie's Great Uncle Don and Aunt Betty.  It was a 2 hour drive there, and 2 hours back, but we were so much closer than we'd ever be so we knew we had to do it (they sold their house in Kingston and moved to Sarnia to be closer to Betty's family months ago, but we never found the time to drive the 7 hours to go visit them before now)  It made for an exhausting day, but it was so good to have a visit with them, and to see them settled into their new place.  They seem well settled there, and well taken care of, so that's a relief.  And hopefully we'll get back out there in the spring.......

On Sun we started the day out with a big hike, before driving all the way back home that night.....

Tiegan HATES hiking - she totally does not see the point of it, and complains loudly every time we decide to go:-)  Jamie told her she didn't have to hike, that instead she could cartwheel her way - and so for a good 20 minutes that is what she did!  I was dizzy just watching her:-)

Once Brodie got down on the ground, he was in HEAVEN.  Picking up sticks and running here, there and everywhere - never in a straight line and rarely where we wanted to go, but luckily no one was in a hurry and there were lots of acorns to find and forts to play in, so it was all good:-)

One of his many great expressions......

And this series, I called sibling love.  I asked for a photo, and then I had to get more specific and say, can you look like you actually like each other for two seconds?!  GOOFBALLS!

Travelling with these guys is never dull, they always add to the adventure, and I'm trying to soak up absolutely ever second of it that I can - I'm starting to realize that they're thinking of leaving home in the next few years, and soon we won't have all these travel buddies.  Makes me sad to think of it, so instead of dwelling on it, I'm just going to continue enjoying as many adventures as I can with them!
