Happy Happy Birthday Ryland!

So, our sweet little boy is turning one today. Where did that year go? I can't believe that one year ago, I was in the beginning of labour by now, and within 1 1/2 hours we would be excitedly meeting our new baby. And now he's moved from mellow baby to active toddler with something on his mind! WOW, is he ever busy! And another word I would use to describe him is determined. And curious, full-of-laughter, lovable, sweet and ACTIVE!

We celebrated his birthday yesterday with a bubble-themed party and then today we had a really mellow day together. We woke up and ate cake for breakfast, opened gifts and marveled at how big he is (when we measured him on the wall, he is now taller than Tiegan was at 18 months!). This afternoon Jamie took the girls to a kids symphony concert, so Ryland and I took a long nap together (what a rare luxury for me - and a great chance to remember those early days with him), and then our good friends the Taylors (Tash was the one who came to our birth and helped out so much during the weeks right afterwards) prepared a lovely meal for us in celebration tonight! All in all, a great birthday weekend!

Thank you for all of your phone calls and email messages, we put the phone up to Ryland's ear to hear the singing and such, and he wasn't sure what to make of it, but I'm sure he felt well celebrated!

I have about 6 blog posts that I've been meaning to add, but have yet found the time to coordinate. And then I don't want to add anything new until I catch up, so I end up not blogging at all. So instead, I'll say a quick hello before I shut the computer down for the night, and hopefully TOMORROW I'll find the time to catch up!

I just went out with a friend to watch a movie. In the theatre. Without children. It has been FAR too long since I've done that! And holy cripes, is it ever expensive!!!!! We saw "Juno" which I dearly loved and highly recommend to everyone! Very sweet, and not nearly as predictable as I was anticipating.

This past weekend we drove up to Princeton to spend some time with my grandparents. Saw lots of deer, got skunked in crib games, ate too much - and generally had a good visit!

We got a free rental through Discount's "One, Two, Free" weekend plan, so all we had to pay for was gas. I hate it now that you don't have to fill up the gas tank before returning a vehicle, so you pick it up partially full. Or as the woman at the desk informed us, 2/8's full. Of course, I would have said it was more 4/16's full, but I didn't want to quibble.

And now, good folks, I'm off to bed because before I know it those charming little children will be dragging me out of dream land to prepare them something to eat! Have a good night!

Of course, we always suspected that Tiegan would be the first of our children to break a bone.

And yes, we're horrible parents, but her fractured wrist is from a fall at the Harry Potter Ball. On Jan. 24th. And we only confirmed today that it was actually fractured. And by the time that the x-rays were taken and the arm examined by a doctor in the er, the bone had already begun to heal.

And the four hours that I had to spend at Children's Hospital today with three healthy (ie mobile and energetic)children MORE than pays me back for any guilt I may be feeling!!!
