Fresh eggs from our chickens this morning, so we boiled them up for lunch - I love mine with a bit of celery cut up, mayo, salt and pepper. And since I'm trying to stay off breads for the month, I had it in a 'bowl' of celery. And a couple of different salads - yum!
We had an hour or two with all the kids out of the house, so rare - but had this stupid staff party for Jamie's work to get ready for - TORTURE! I NEVER have anything to wear to these things.......
An event like this DEFINITELY deserves a relaxing bath to relax beforehand:-)
We took a few 'selfies' and this was the least lame:-) Then we were off - first to meet Tiegan who was being dropped off by Jane and then to get Ry from his playdate at the neighbours' house.....
Still foggy, and our roads and driveways are sooooo icy......
Two tired but happy kids, we're off - the fog is still there. So beautiful, but we're extra nervous drivers now after having hit the deer, and it makes it hard to keep your eyes out with the fog.....
We made a stop at another friends' house, to drop off ski boots and pick up raw milk (we had been skiing a few nights previously, and realized after arriving that we'd left ONE of Ry's boots at home. Oops. And then we ran in to these friends, who were getting ready to leave, and wouldn't you know it - her boots fit Ry perfectly! Crazy luck)
Driving, driving, driving - Jamie sick of having the camera in his face, so makes a comment about how this is supposed to be a documentary about MY day, so I should be doing self portraits not shots of him......so turn the camera on myself!
Queensway, on our way to pick up Kea.
Her dance class is near Ikea and since we're half an hour early we decide to pop in for a couple of things (and leave with only a couple of things - miraculous!)
(magnetic bar for knives - and toy cars)
(step stool for Kea's loft within a loft)
Tiegan using the self serve checkout - I'm usually opposed to using these as I don't want to replace all the people jobs, BUT we were now running late to pick up Kea and the lines were horrendous......
It's warmed up a lot (hence the fog) and so the ground is disgusting - especially in the parking lots.....
Turns out it doesn't matter that we're late, because the girls are all late leaving dance....
Back on the Queensway, heading to Nana's. Today is turning into a car-filled day. So many days I don't even get into the car, but I seem to make up for it on other days - hassle of living out in the country, I guess.
I wanted to capture the chaos of arriving at Nana's - everyone's brimming over with stories, throwing coats and boots everywhere, Jamie and I are nagging them to clean up after themselves, and Nana Heather is not quite sure WHAT hit her!!! But they soon settle down, thrilled with the promise of an evening full of junk food and tv, and barely have time to give us a kiss goodnight!
And we're off........
Catching up on Instagram on the drive over - the party is in the middle of nowhere, at a lame hotel, even better:-)
I didn't even think of taking photos before this, but you didn't miss much. We all stood around in the hallway eating appetizers and making small talk. Definitely didn't feel comfortable pulling out my camera and taking photos:-)
Luckily we got placed at a table with some really interesting couples, so conversation was surprisingly good and the evening passed by quickly. Dinner was tasty, but far too rich and salty - I'm just not used to that anymore!
My gorgeous date:-)
And my fancy dessert - looks better than it tasted!
And the dance floor that we avoided like the plague - we're party poopers like that. Seemed to be only those who were drinking lots that made it out there, I was on Perrier all night so that must be why the cheesy music and flashing lights didn't appeal to me:-)
Picked up our sleeping kids at about midnight, and carried them into the car....
filled up with some much needed gas
and headed HOME........
1am, back where I started, and so happy to collapse into my bed:-)
